A new poll of San Diego County voters shows 83% support allowing young undocumented immigrants, often referred to as Dreamers, to earn permanent legal status in the United States; and a full two-thirds agree that Congress should protect them first before considering more border enforcement.

Dreamers Face Thursday Deadline to Renew DACA Permits

Thousands of Dreamers scrambled over the weekend to renew their permits before the Thursday deadline, though what will happen to beneficiaries of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program when their permits expire is still uncertain.

DACA permits must be renewed every two years. More than 200,000 Dreamers hold permits that will expire this year, and another 275,000 will expire in 2018.

Move would defy the will of voters who overwhelmingly passed Measure L

Alliance San Diego has been asked to respond to the Voice of San Diego story revealing that  Mayor Faulconer is involved in another effort to use the homelessness crisis as a lever to put an expansion of the convention center on a special-election ballot, which would contravene Measure L. We are responding to multiple inquiries all at once to make Alliance San Diego’s position clear.
