On June 5th, San Diegans will go to the polls and vote during the primary elections of 2018. This is your chance to help decide the outcome of a wide range of local, state and federal races.
The deadline to register to vote is May 21st, and mail-in voting began on May 8th (see below for resources on how to vote). Regardless of your political affiliation, make sure to come out and VOTE FOR SAN DIEGO!
What’s on the 2018 primary election ballot?
During this primary election, San Diegans will help determine either outright winners or nominees for the November 6 general election. For the races in the City of San Diego, State of California and U.S. Congress, the top two candidates of each race will face off in November. Meanwhile, candidates for countywide offices, such as the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, will be able to win outright during the primary election if they get more than 50 percent of the vote.
Some of the races in this year’s primary election include:
- San Diego County District Attorney
- San Diego County Board of Supervisors (District 4 and District 5)
- San Diego County Sheriff
- San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk
- San Diego County Treasurer/Tax Collector
- San Diego City Council (Districts 2, 4, 6, and 8)
- U.S. House Representatives for California Districts 49 & 50
- California Governor
