SAN DIEGO, CA — Alliance San Diego is proud to announce Reverend Doctor Yvette Flunder, founder and Senior Pastor of the City of Refuge UCC and Presiding Bishop of The Fellowship, as the keynote speaker for the 33rd annual All Peoples Celebration, an event honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Rev. Dr. Yvette Flunder is an award-winning gospel singer and senior pastor of the City of Refuge United Church of Christ in Oakland, California and Presiding Bishop of The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries. Rev. Dr. Flunder is on the Board of Starr King School for the Ministry and DEMOS and has taught at many theological schools. She is a graduate of the Certificate of Ministry and Master of Arts programs at the Pacific School of Religion, and received her Doctor of Ministry from San Francisco Theological Seminary. She is also the author of Where the Edge Gathers: A Theology of Homiletic and Radical Inclusion.
The All Peoples Celebration brings together more than 1,000 diverse community members for an inspiring program to honor the living legacy of Dr. King and his vision of a Beloved Community, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. The annual event is a touchstone to reconnect, recalibrate, and recommit to the teachings of Dr. King.
This year’s theme is Persist, a reflection of Dr. King’s quote:
“That freedom only comes through persistent revolt, through persistent agitation, through persistently rising up against the system of evil.”
While the event is typically a breakfast, this year the event will be held digitally with performances, speakers and musical guests.
