What Kind Of Data Should Police Collect During Traffic Stops?

Starting in 2018, police officers across California will be required to collect data on who they stop and why. The new requirement is part of  AB 953, a bill signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown, which is designed to shed light on the prevalence of racial profiling.

 

A recent report showed people of color were more likely to be searched than whites when pulled over by San Diego police officers.
