Campaign will launch today on National Voter Registration Day as voters prepare to receive their ballots as early as October 5

SAN DIEGO, CA — Alliance San Diego is launching its 2020 election campaign WE VOTE on National Voter Registration Day, to help promote safe and early voting as the County Registrar of Voters prepares to mail ballots next week.

The 2020 elections will be unlike any before as every voter in the state will receive a mail-in ballot as early as October 5. In California, eligible voters are automatically registered when they apply for or renew their drivers’ license or identification card. Additionally, voters can register, re-register with new information, and verify their correct address here. While in-person voting locations will be reduced to prevent the spread of coronavirus, voters will have more opportunities to vote early by dropping off their ballots in designated locations across the county. 

Alliance San Diego is deploying canvassers and volunteers to contact voters by phone to make sure they make their voices count. We are also dropping voter education materials at the homes of underrepresented communities.

WE VOTE aims to inspire and persuade voters to come together and help deliver on the promise of our democracy. No matter where we come from, the color of our skin, our accent or zip code, it is important that we come together and vote. It is when we join across cultural and ethnic lines that we can push back against the policies of division that have undermined all of us.

We’ve been faced with a great deal of challenges this year, but when we vote together nothing can stand in the way of upholding democracy in the face of adversity.”
