Time To Stand Up For Our Values and Protect Our Communities

Andrea Guerrero, Executive Director of Alliance San Diego, has issued the following statement regarding President Trump's Inauguration.

"Today, Donald J. Trump became the 45th President of the United States. For Alliance San Diego, it marks the start of an new era of working towards policies that truly reflect the values of a 21st-century society, where all people are treated with dignity and respect.

That work begins with protecting and preserving the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA. This policy started by the Obama Administration in June 2012, has helped many young immigrants by giving them work permits and access to higher education, while shielding them from deportation. President Trump has vowed to end this program. Doing so would shatter the lives of nearly 800,000 young undocumented immigrants who were brought to this country by their parents at a young age. We must stand together and RISE TOGETHER. We call on all DACA-eligible immigrants to visit our website, AllianceSD.org, to find out more information about DACA, including upcoming free immigration forums.

Alliance San Diego remains committed to working with all three branches of government to build a San Diego - and a nation - where everybody can live to their full potential in an environment of harmony, safety, equality, and justice."
