Community Gathering Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 20th
What: Upholding the living legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Alliance San Diego is pleased to host our community-wide 37th Annual All Peoples Celebration on Monday, January 20th beginning at 10 a.m. at the Balboa Park Activity Center. Community members will enjoy a morning full of inspiring speakers, energizing live music, colorful dance performances, and thoughtful connections with people who work alongside Alliance San Diego to uplift the human rights and dignity of everyone.
Headlining our gathering is keynote speaker John Kim, President & CEO of Catalyst California. Since joining Catalyst California in 2002, John has been lifting the voices and needs of low-income communities of color to transform systems and expand opportunities for all. John will help us uplift this year’s theme, “Protect DIGNITY.” We will invite our guests to join us in a collective pledge to practice radical hope and protect dignity for all. Alliance San Diego will recognize two extraordinary San Diegans for their public service and unrelenting commitment to building the Beloved Community envisioned by Dr. King through the presentation of two awards, the Leo Carillo Change Agent Award and the Ashley Walker Social Justice Award. Tickets and tables for the seated program inside can be purchased online until they are sold out. The outside Community Space with information about how to get civically involved in San Diego is free and open to the public.
