ICE out of California

On April 20th, the California State Assembly Judiciary Committee voted to move forward the VISION Act, AB 937, which would end the practice of transferring immigrants from local law enforcement custody to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Alliance San Diego and the San Diego Immigrant Rights Consortium (SDIRC) are proud co-sponsors of the VISION Act. The legislation is also supported by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. The VISION Act builds upon our prior work  in passing the TRUST Act, TRUTH Act and SB 54, all of which seek to limit local and state law enforcement agencies from engaging in federal immigration enforcement. With our partners in SDIRC, we are committed to working until transfers from the San Diego Sheriff Department to ICE are a thing of the past. The VISION Act will help us achieve that.
