DACA Renewal Fund

On September 5, the White House announced that it was ending protections for young undocumented immigrants known as Dreamers who are currently in DACA status. The White House stated it will end the program on March 5, but cautioned that DACA recipients who do not renew their status in the interim will be subject to deportation. This is a cruel and heartless decision that puts a tremendous burden on Dreamers. Alliance San Diego calls on the community to help.

There are an estimated 3,500 Dreamers who have DACA status in the region that will expire in the next six months and who must apply for renewal by October 5th in order to prevent their deportation. In order to assist low-income DACA recipients to renew, Alliance San Diego is setting up an "Application Fee Fund" to pay for the renewal fees of the young immigrants at our two free application assistance events on Friday, September 22 and Saturday, September 30

We invite your donation to our fund to help DACA recipients pay the $495 renewal fee by making a tax-deductible donation to our fund. Together, we can ensure that as many people as possible are able to renew by the October 5 deadline.

WHO WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE FEE-GRANT?

DACA renewal applicants who come to our two free application assistance events on Sep. 22nd or 30th. At the event, all applications will be reviewed by legal experts to ensure that the applications are complete and ready to send.

HOW WILL THE GRANTS BE ADMINISTERED?

Alliance San Diego staff has a dedicated fund for this program, which our accountants track. Our staff will be onsite and will write checks directly to USCIS for the fee amount for renewal applicants who need financial assistance and whose application has been reviewed by our legal experts. Alliance San Diego will account for all grant-fees and we are able to provide financial reports on the program upon request.

IS MY DONATION TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?

Yes, your donation in any amount is tax-deductible and will help support DACA recipients to stay protected in these uncertain times. We are grateful for your contribution to this fund. Thanks!
