On Monday, June 19 2017, City Council, led by Mayor Ron Morrison, unanimously voted to adopt a resolution that supports Senate Bill 54. The bill, also known as the "California Values Act" prevents state and local dollars and law enforcement agencies from helping immigration officials separate families and terrorize communities.

According to the San Diego City Charter, in our Strong Mayor Form of Government, Mayor Kevin Faulconer can not only veto budget items that the City Council has approved, but also move money around to his liking. Only a supermajority of the City Council can override his budget modifications.
