Today Alliance San Diego submitted a letter to the San Diego City Council urging them to do the right thing, and protect the will of the voters by not retroactively changing the rules on the vote threshold for Measure C.

15 Years in Search of Justice for Anastasio Hernández Rojas

In April 2025, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights issued a landmark ruling in case of Anastasio Hernández Rojas, finding that the United States was responsible for his killing in 2010 in San Diego, and the coverup that followed. The ruling is the first known instance of a tribunal holding U.S. border agents accountable for killing a community member — and they have killed thousands over the last 100 years. This historic case serves as a precedent for other cases of police brutality and paves the way for reform of law enforcement at every level of government. This is the timeline of the case.

La resolución es el primer caso conocido en el que un tribunal responsabiliza a agentes fronterizos de Estados Unidos por el asesinato de un miembro de la comunidad, y han matado a miles de personas en los últimos 100 años. Remembering Japanese American History Means Fighting For A More Just Country

La Mesa, National City, the City of San Diego and the County of San Diego’s proclamations to honor civil rights activist Fred Korematsu for his work opposing the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II is very meaningful to me and my family. I am Yonsei – fourth generation Japanese American on my mother's side. Both my grandmother and my grandfather were imprisoned with their families during WWII. My grandfather was 12 years old when he was sent to Amache Relocation Center in Colorado, and my grandmother was 7 years old when she was sent to Topaz Relocation Center in Utah.
