Board Member Match! Donate Today and Double Your Impact!

We’re kicking off the third week of our “I Have a Voice” Annual Giving campaign with a splash! Alliance San Diego board member, Vivienne Esrig, who is also the deputy director of the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, has pledged to match your donations for today only to help us reach our goal of $50,000 by May 1st.

In a recent Q&A session, Vivienne shared her passion for Alliance San Diego and why she is doubling your contribution.

See what Vivienne had to say below:

Q: Why did you decide to become a board member of Alliance San Diego?

A: I've always been an activist and I cannot live in a town without being involved on some meaningful level. There are so few organizations in San Diego that truly understand, embrace and act on the issues of community engagement and empowerment, Alliance San Diego stands out as a leader.

Q: What are one or two of the most impactful things this organization has done?

A: The direct impact Alliance San Diego had on voter turnout this last election cycle is absolutely mind-blowing. EVERY vote truly counts. This organization's ability to touch more than 90,000 people is inspiring.

Q: Why do you think people should donate to Alliance San Diego?

A: It's not often one can see the direct correlation between donation to implementation. At Alliance San Diego, you see your dollars paying canvassers, phone bankers, petition-signature-askers out on the street.

Q: Why are you offering to match donations?

A: It's wonderful that this political climate has inspired a renewed sense of awareness and charitable giving, and while everyone needs support... at some point, the larger groups in the media spotlight get enough and it’s the regional and local organizations that must be supported. After all, that's how the big players got their start.

Q: What is the one thing people should know about Alliance San Diego and the work it does?

A: People should know that Alliance San Diego is getting noticed on a national level. San Diego, as a border town, is uniquely positioned to be intimately involved with the needs of our refugees, our undocumented, our Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals dreamers. Equally important, San Diegans feel the palpable fear under the new regime. This is simply an unacceptable state of affairs and Alliance San Diego is making a difference in people's lives.
