Alliance San Diego Reacts To Decision To End DACA

San Diego, CA - Today, the Trump Administration made a shameful decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program while giving Congress a six-month delay to come up with a legislative solution. This irresponsible decision will put nearly 800,000 young people, including up to 40,000 San Diegans, at risk in a political tug-of-war.

Andrea Guerrero, Executive Director of Alliance San Diego, said the following:

“Young immigrants known as Dreamers represent the best of this country - they are innovators, educators, parents, and children - and they belong in our community. The Trump Administration’s decision to end DACA is shameful and puts an estimated 40,000 Dreamers in San Diego at risk in a dangerous and irresponsible game of chicken with Congress. Now Congress must act to pass a clean bill that codifies the DACA program without eroding protections for other communities or undermining our civil liberties.

Alliance San Diego stands ready to help Dreamers and other immigrants by offering free legal consultations with trusted immigration attorneys. We invite people to visit ReadyNowSanDiego.org to find out about upcoming events, make an appointment to speak with an immigration attorney, and find out how they can protect themselves and their families."
