We are the children of Martin, the children of Dorothy Day, the children of Rabbi Abraham Heschel, the children of Mohammed and Moses, Abraham and Sarah, Jesus and Mary, Harriet and Sojourner, and Rosa and Fannie Lou. Standing down is not an option. Not now. Not when so much is at stake.”

The words of Rev. Barber are still ringing in our ears from the 2017 All Peoples Celebration. His words brought us to our feet, and he inspired us to do more to combat hate and division, especially now. He called on us to stand with him and with other people of diverse faiths and good conscience to build a moral movement for compassion, inclusion and justice.

We are answering that call.  

Alliance San Diego is pleased to announce the launch of the Interfaith Justice Coalition to fight for a San Diego, and a nation, where every worker and every person is treated with dignity and respect. Inspired by Rev. Barber, the goal of the coalition will be to empower faith leaders, lay leaders, and people of good conscience to engage in collective strategies that lift up our shared values rooted in diverse faith traditions and in our Constitution.

The coalition will build on the tremendous work of the Interfaith Center for Worker Justice and reach further to align with the national moral movement driven by Rev. Barber and other faith leaders. Our priority will be to develop prophetic and progressive voices to combat injustice.

At Alliance San Diego, we strive to create a San Diego where all people can achieve their full potential in an environment of harmony, safety, equality, and justice. The Interfaith Justice Coalition will ground our movement and help make that vision real. Stay tuned for more information.
